Dear Parents/Guardians,

Your students have been hard at work preparing a concert for you.  The Woodland Elementary Holiday Concert will occur on December 19th at 5:30PM in the big gym.  The program will last approximately thirty-five minutes, and will involve the kindergarten through 5th grade students.  I’d like to take this opportunity to share some details about the program.

All students will meet in their classrooms with their teacher, who will take attendance and line the students up to proceed to the gym.  In order for the program to start on time, you should plan to drop your child off at their classroom no later than 5:15PM.  Students should dress nice, but there’s no need to be too fancy or formal.  I do ask for you to avoid jeans, t-shirts, and gym shoes if at all possible.  Festive or holiday themed clothing is allowed, and encouraged.

Please plan to stay until the end of the program, as excessive moving and noise in the audience is distracting to the students.  All students will be dismissed to their classrooms following the program and you may pick them up from there.

Performance experience is a vital part of any music education and an Illinois State Learning Standard, and thus our program is considered to be part of our music curriculum.  Attendance is expected, and is part of our grade in the classroom. As this is a one-time curricular event, I won’t excuse absences for extracurricular sports or activities without notice.  I will, however, excuse an absence only if you, the parent/guardian, contact me in advance, or if your child is out of school the day of the program.  If your child is unable to attend, please notify me, preferably by email, ahead of the performance.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone or email using the information at the top of this page.  Thank you for your support in making the program a success, and for your support of the arts here at Woodland!

Sincerely,

Alec Levy
