Damaged or Replacement Chromebook Policy

Parents and Guardians,

 

Congratulations we have made it two weeks.  Whether you are doing in-person learning, remote learning, or a little of both you should be proud of making it through this truly difficult and different way we call school for the 2020-21 school year.  In these two weeks we have rolled out a great deal of technology, worked out technology bugs with students and staff, and made school to work for nearly all in a truly trying time.  We have learned some things along the way and have had some problematic situations arise with students and family members practicing neglect to school materials, most notably school Chromebooks.  With that we are implementing the following policy starting today August 28, 2020 regarding damaged or loss of a Woodland Chromebooks.

 

Damaged or Lost Chromebooks

Practicing responsible care routines with your student is the best way to prevent breakage or loss.  In the event that the Chromebook is damaged or lost, we do expect you to pay for the replacement of the device, just as we do for damaged or lost textbooks.  The estimated replacement cost of the device and the accessories is listed below.

*Pricing is non-negotiable, only district approved vendors will be used.*

A/C Adapter Replacement

We do understand that a device may malfunction from time to time due to nothing your student or family member may have done.  In these cases, you would not be charged a fee because it would be covered with the warranty we have placed on all devices.  But if it is determined by our technology department and/or the maker of the product to be due to user error or neglect you will be expected to pay the necessary fees to replace the item or fix the item back to working order.
