TikTok Challenge Oct 21

Letter from Dr. McGuckin about TikTok Challenges and punishment.
Posted on 09/28/2021
Over the past few weeks, you may have heard about various Tik Tok Challenges that revolve around schools.  September’s challenges revolved around defacing and stealing various school bathroom fixtures.  October’s challenge revolves around “smacking teachers or staff members.”

We are going to make this very easy for our students and families if either of these or additional challenges are had.  I will provide you with the past two challenges and the “at least” discipline as examples:

-Defacing, tampering with, or stealing school materials, fixtures, furniture, etc

-Charge of criminal and or theft of state supported property from the Livingston County Sheriffs Department (Could be deemed a Felony because of state property)

-Replacement costs of the school property tampered with

               - Automatic 5 day out of school suspension with move for expulsion as needed

-Removed from any sport, activity, or clubs for the remainder of the school year

-NO Attendance at any school function for the remainder of the school year (Dance, PROM, athletic event, snowball event, etc)

-“Smacking / touching a teacher for any reason”

-Charge of assault / criminal sexual abuse from the Livingston County Sheriffs Department

               - Automatic 5 day out of school suspension with move for expulsion as needed

-Removed from any sport, activity, or clubs for the remainder of the school year

-NO Attendance at any school function for the remainder of your high school career (dance, PROM, athletic event, snowball event, etc)

This goes for the culprit as well as the instigator.  Please be reminded of the character lessons that Mrs. Lee has reviewed with you for countless years while you have been in elementary school: make the right choice, be a good citizen, and be kind to others.

If you have any further questions on these punishments or policies, please contact Dr. McGuckin.
